STORY OF BIRBAL
Birbal helped Akbar in all matters. He helped Akbar to change his opinion in certain matters.
In case of Suraj also he changed Akbar’s mind. Suraj was thought to be unlucky by all. Every body thought that they would have bad luck the rest to the day if they saw Suraj’s face in the morning.
Akbar heard about Suraj and thought people were being unkind to him. He sent for Suraj to judge for himself.
Suraj arrived next morning. Akbar received him and started talking kindly to him. Instantly a mand rushed in "Your majesty the queen has taken ill."
When Akbar reached the queen’s bedside he found her very ill. The court physician arrived and gave her medicines . The king sat beside the queen till the afternoon. Akbar went toward the court to coutine his talk with Suraj.
On his way one of the servants stopped him :lord, your lunch awaits you , if delay further, the food will getspoilt."
Akbar went to have lunch but found the food tasteless and cold. He got very angry with the servants and stormed out of the dining hall without eating his food.
King was hungry but decided to finish his talk with Suraj while fresh meal was being prepared .
As he saw suraj he thought, "Suraj is surely unlucky. First the queen was taken ill andnow muy luch is ruined This man is dangerous for everybody. I should put him in prison so that no one sees his face.
He ordered the guards to put Suraj in prison. It was Suraj’s good luck that he came across Birbal while being taken to the prison
Suraj screamed at once "Oh kind one, Birbal please save me. He says my face has brought him bad luck so he is sending me to prison."
Birbal felt sorry for the man. He took him aside and whispered a few instructin in his ear.
Meanwhile Akbar had eaten fresh food which had been prepared for him agin. He was once again in a good mood. But got angry when the jailor brought Suraj to him
How dare you bring this man to me He should be in prison "Akbar shouted.
My lord, he insisted on meeting your before being put intot prison "Akbar shouted.
"By now Suraj was on his kness begging for mearcy. You are putting me in prison because yu think my face brought you bad luck. What should I do Your face has broughtbad luck to me. I am going to prison." Priya rahut
Akbar laughed and said "You are correct. I will spare you. I can guess who taught you that."
Suraj was set free. When Akber met Birbal he remarked "Birbal thank you for checking me when I go wrong . birbal simply smiled.
